What is Diminished Value?

Buyer Perception

Diminished Value refers to the difference in your vehicle’s market value before and after an accident. Even if your vehicle has been repaired, the value dramatically decreases. For example, a buyer may be willing to pay $25,000 for a used vehicle with no accidents on it’s title, but only $19,000 if they see it has been in an accident and has been repaired. The Diminished Value for that car would be $6,000. Insurance companies are required by law in the state of Georgia to pay that value whether you are at fault or not. Typically, the insurance company will only offer you a fraction of that value. Let our appraisers help get you what you deserve.

Why do I need to hire an Independent Appraiser?

While providing Diminished Value is a law in Georgia, the burden of proving what that value is falls on the customer. Insurance companies use various formulas and calculations to determine a car’s worth pre and post accident.

If you do not know how to prove your worth, the insurance companies will get away with giving you a fraction of what you are owed.

Our appraisers have worked in the insurance industry for many years and know how to present information in a way that will get you your best offer.

Our appraisals provide vehicle inspections and vehicle history reports as well as a market analysis of comparable vehicles based on real time market data, with supporting documents and an insurance demand letter.

We will advocate for you to your insurance company to make sure you get what you are owed.

And not to worry! Your insurance company can not raise your rates based on this claim.

“My entire experience with JW Appraisals was top notch. From start to finish they were extremely polite, responsive, and professional. If you are like me, you probably had no idea what diminished value is. My vehicle was damaged in an accident and my insurance company offered me $250.00 for the depreciation of my vehicle. Luckily a friend told me I should be reimbursed more for my truck and recommended I reach out to JW Appraisals. After working with their team I was able to get back $1850.00. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to recover the maximum amount owed to them.”
